welcome to my little webstore …

What is DISTORTED?

Distorted is a little sample library created from a heavy distorted and drop tuned electric guitar … with very very thick strings :)
Distorted is a not a guitar library in the usual sense, since it just consists out of powerchord and fx samples. So, consider it more being a little tool giving you that huge wall of guitars you want behind your action or trailer tracks!

To give you a better impression please listen to the demo “Distorted Behaviour” which was created with the library only.

All samples have been recorded in 44,1Khz and 16bit. Each sample and phrase was recorded in mono, but recorded twice in order to give you total freedom on how you want to pan the individual tracks and samples.

Distorted is actually split into two categories. The multisample libary and the lick packages. The main part is the multisample library which you can load into NI Kontakt, Gigasampler or into the Wusik sampler. Inside that multisample library you will find all kinds of articulations and effects:

Sustain samples with simulated legato effect:
If you assign a velocity from 1-43 to a midi note you hear a sample with a short slide going into the chord from a higher note. If you assign a velocity of 44-85, you hear a straight played chord and if you assign velocity from 86-127 you hear a short slide going into the chord from a lower note.

Fretnoise:
is basically a simple program with recorded fretnoise samples which behave as release notes. So after you created a line or a guitarpart in a midi track with the DIST_SUS program, just create another midi track below and copy the created part or event of the sustained notes miditrack down to this other new created midi track. Then assign the midi output of this new created miditrack to the FRETNOISE CONNECTOR program in Kontakt. What you hear is fretnoise exactly on this moment, when a sustained chord moves to another fret. It may be good to delete the last note on the FRETNOISE CONNECTOR track because you probably don‘t want to have fretnoise on the last played note of the line or part.

Staccato open and stopped:
The staccato open program contains samples which are played with a very high attack but were not fully stopped. While the hand mutes the strings with the palm they softly fade out. The stopped program is exactly the same but the strings have been stopped after a very short time. This gives you a very harsh and short staccato note.

The second category which are the lick packages are the minor part of the library but not less important in my opinion:

Each of the two lick packages consists of ten live played licks in .wav format. These are not sampler generated patters, but completely played live phrases and therefore give you all the realism you need.

To give you a better impression of the licks I would like to give you one lick for free avialable as download, so you can check it out yourself. Hope you enjoy! Simply click me and download “Infected mummies”

Each lick has a special name:
e.g. 105_4-4_c_infected mummies
This means, that the tempo the lick “Infected mummies” was recorded at tempo 105, the time signature is 4/4 and the root key of the lick is in C.

Now the cool thing is that both, the multisample library and the lick packages are created with the exact same sound. So you can seemlessly combine the multisample library with the phrases.

Yep, that’s basically all you need to know about Distorted!
